Nissan Enters North American Market with Innovative Commercial Vehicle Standard and High Roof Vans Designed to 'Help Businesses Better Run "

Like the Nissan finalizes plans to bring the first production of commercial vehicles (CV) to the North American market in late 2010, it started with a really basic design up - from the steep ladder frame to the roof rack mounting brackets on top of innovative structured and laid out the body . But the all-new Nissan NV (Nissan Van) also has the advantage of an incredible heritage of Nissan commercial vehicles, covering 75 years and more than 75 percent of the global CV market.

"The new kid on the block, it turns out, as well as old players in the global commercial vehicle market. As a non-domestic nameplate first to design, manufacture and sell the CV in the United States, we carry more than seven-decade tradition of durability, quality and reliability for products us, "said Joe Castelli, vice president, Commercial Vehicle and Fleet, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). "At the same time, we have taken a fresh look at every aspect of business -. CV includes styling, powertrain, interior, and the operating costs of ownership, dealer sales and service operations and, most importantly, real-world needs of customers"

The first production model in the new lineup of Nissan North America CV is the 2011 Nissan NV1500, NV2500 NV3500 HD and HD. They will be available with a choice of 4.0 liter V6 and 5.6-liter V8 engine and in two body styles, Roof Standards (all models) and High Roof (NV2500 NV3500 HD and HD only) - a high roof with a model that offers a stand-up measures / work area cargo capability.

"For too many years for any manufacturer in this segment has seen 'conceded' to the needs of owners and operators in the CV segment," said Castelli. "We have invested more than five years researching the comfort, style and the demands of intelligent functions that will allow business owners to achieve more throughout their day. We plan to get out of the box with the segment-busting vehicles, so that customer feedback is very important."

NV planning team employs a variety of customers innovative research methodologies, including focus groups, on-site visits and review concepts. Quantitative and qualitative research happening across America - Los Angeles, Chicago, New Jersey, Dallas, Detroit, New York, Minnesota, Arizona and other markets. The team met with a large fleet owners and managers, small business owners, aftermarket suppliers and converters, and rode along with the owners of competitive vehicles.

"The NV is one of the most researched project ever in the history of Nissan. We touch the market at every possible point, with the findings reflected in every aspect of the final NV designs," adds Castelli.

Sit comfortably and Standing

Research shows that the commercial van owners were the most satisfied of any vehicle segment, with many van owners dispose of their vehicles in favor of a light duty truck even though the compromise of comfort and utility. In developing the new Nissan NV, one of the overall goal is to combine the pickup truck such as comfort, interior and drivability facilities with the capacity of a cargo van and security.

"Seeing the CV market in recent years, there has been migration of users vans for light-duty pickup because of a lack of comfort, image and reliability of the van platform currently outdated," said Castelli. "But a lot of truck owners admit that they need a van for weather protection, security and comfort of the high roof van to carry large items or equipment with the Nissan NV, we give them the best of both worlds .."

Answering one of the major unmet needs of the owner - driver comfort and roominess - Nissan NV interior begins with the front door wide for easy entry and egress, supportive bucket seats with extensive adjustments, arm chair and large truck-like driving position with the leg room adequate and leg room. Center console is available (removable) provides a range of integrated storage features, while the fold-down passenger seat - which is unique to the segment - add functions desks and increase feelings of openness taxi.

Another major contributor to the taxi pickup-like is the "hated" the machine that feels traditional CV into the cab because the placement of the engine setback. Nissan NV layout engine uses a conventional truck with the engine and transmission are located in front of the firewall / A pillar. This not only frees up space under the instrument panel and between the seats, also under the hood provides easy access to the entire engine for routine service and maintenance.

"From the front seat NV looks, acts and feels like you do not have to disassemble the pickup to access the engine and interior. You do not have to worry about tucking your boots into a narrow footwell," Castelli said. "But, make no mistake, behind the chair NV is pure, practical van."

Cargo area is quite NV offers cargo floor length of 120.7 inches and 70.3-inch maximum width of the cargo floor. The roof of the Standard Model NV offers spacious cargo maximum height of 55.4, among the highest in the class. High Roof NV provides 76.5-inch maximum height of cargo space - enough for most users to move cargo area while standing upright.

"Standard Roof NV models designed to fit in most garages or through a car wash and the most fast-food drive-through lane - along with offering a range of more easy to access roof rack," said Castelli. "But for so many businesses, added cargo capacity and ability to stand and work in the high roof NV will be an invaluable addition to daily operations and productivity."

Smart Function and Layout Flexible

Inspired by the needs of customers and usage, NV Nissan offers an amazing array of features intelligent functions, including storage bags, space and compartments designed to provide secure access to everyday objects typical commercial customers' use. A drawer under the seat, for example, fits small tools, first aid kit or stationary, while the deep pockets of the entrance of a flashlight, legal size binders and clipboards. High roof models offer an available overhead console designed to hold work gloves, binders legal size, safety glasses and book system. Center console is available (released) according to the file size of letters and laptop computers - and includes a computer or mobile phone charging point.

"A commercial van to serve the function of a more current, including acting as a mobile office for the time spent on the road or at job sites," said Castelli. "We have made the storage and productivity of goods integral design, rather than tacked-on afterthoughts The result is a workspace, clean, practical and comfortable for a wide range of professions and businesses .."

Along with being understood as a "mobile office," NV Nissan is designed to serve as "mobile workshops" - thanks to the layout is simple, flexible cargo area. Along with the offer opening the door wide, NV offers a space between the wheelhouses to accommodate standard sheets of plywood or drywall or pallets. There are also various cargo area tie-down rings and cargo area lighting is sufficient.

New Nissan NV is also designed to accommodate equipment and aftermarket modifications. For example, a roof rack mounting bracket is designed for a variety of rack systems without piercing a hole in the roof, which can cause corrosion and leaks water. Available "pre-wired upfitter" allows easy access to the electrical system.

NV also offers full-length panel in the cargo area to protect the outer wall of the dent and sounds from inside, and there is some connection point weld-nuts for rack and shelf - again does not require drilling sheet metal. In addition, nearly vertical sidewalls NV maximize usable cargo space, general storage system accommodates aftermarket, as well as the bulkhead behind the driver.

Three Well-Equipped Models

Cost of ownership and operation is an important factor in the CV segment, both for operating a large fleet or individual business owners. "From the full frame rugged all-steel box for the construction of body-on-chassis, NV Nissan designed with the highest standards of durability, quality and reliability," said Castelli. "The NV is designed to be affordable and stand up to abuse that the real work truck face every day."

New Nissan NV will begin with a choice of two engines - a powerful yet fuel-efficient 4.0-liter V6 or powerful, torquey 5.6-liter V8. Both engines are matched with 5-speed automatic standard.
